We really need you to read these terms and conditions carefully. The small print matters: it protects you and keeps the competition fair. If you submit a film to Green Shoots, you’re saying that you accept all of these terms.

  1. This Competition is open to all UK, Isle of Man and Channel Island residents, Channel Island and Republic of Ireland residents, excluding staff of the British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc and any persons involved in the administration of the Competition. You must be 13 years or older to enter into this Competition. If you are not 13 you MUST NOT enter into this Competition. If you are 13 or over but have not yet reached 18, you must obtain your parent or guardian’s permission before entering into this Competition. We may ask you to confirm your age if we think it is necessary.


  2. This Competition starts at 6am on July 9th 2007 and closes at 12 midnight on December 31st 2007.


  3. This Competition may only be entered through the SkyCast website at www.skycast.com at all times from 6am on July 9th 2007 to 12 midnight on December 31st 2007.


  4. To take part in this Competition, entrants must:
    • Review the competition Entry Criteria (available at www.skycast.com/greenshoots)
    • Make a short film/s (60 seconds long) on climate change action: things people can do, things people are already doing, or funny and creative ideas for being climate friendly
    • Upload it to SkyCast and tag it greenshoots
    • Comply with the SkyCast Usage Policy and the Terms and Conditions of this Competition (“Competition Terms and Conditions”)
    • Entrants may submit more than one entry/short film
    • Entries must not be sent in through agents or third parties.


  5. Other than as set out in paragraph 6 and 7 below, the SkyCast Usage Policy available at www.skycast.com/info/pgterms shall be applicable to all materials and content submitted for this Competition. Sky reserves the right to disqualify any entrants and their submissions if they fail to comply with these Competition Terms and Conditions set out herein and/or the SkyCast Usage Policy.


  6. Paragraph 6.3 of the SkyCast Usage Policy shall be deleted and replaced by the following:

    "6.3
    (a) This 6.3 (a) will apply to the Winner (as defined in paragraph 10 of the Competition Terms and Conditions) of the Competition.

    From the time you submit your Content to the Service you are giving Sky and any other members of the British Sky Broadcasting Group an exclusive, perpetual, royalty–free, transferable, right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display, make available to the public, broadcast, transmit the Content by all forms of media now known or later invented throughout the world for the full term of copyright and all reversions, extensions or revisions of such copyright. You waive all moral rights in relation to your Content. You further acknowledge and agree that no royalties or fees are payable for use by Sky of the Content. If you do not wish to give Sky and members of the British Sky Broadcasting Group these rights then do not submit your Content to the Service."

    (b) This 6.3(b) applies to all entrants of the Competition except the

    Winner. From the time you submit your Content to the Service you are giving Sky and any other members of the British Sky Broadcasting Group an exclusive (but only exclusive until after the announcement of the Competition Winner), perpetual, royalty–free, transferable, right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display, make available to the public, broadcast, transmit the Content by all forms of media now known or later invented throughout the world for the full term of copyright and all reversions, extensions or revisions of such copyright. You waive all moral rights in relation to your Content. You further acknowledge and agree that no royalties or fees are payable for use by Sky of the Content. If you do not wish to give Sky and members of the British Sky Broadcasting Group these rights then do not submit your Content to the Service.


  7. Paragraph 6.4 of the SkyCast Usage Policy shall be deleted and replaced by the following: “6.4 By submitting your Content to the Service you acknowledge and agree that you are giving Sky, all other members of the British Sky Broadcasting Group and each User a non-exclusive licence to access your Content through the Service and to view such Content as permitted through the functionality of the Service and under these Terms of Use.”


  8. Sky will not accept submissions that bring the Promoter or its partners and affiliate companies into disrepute. Sky views climate change as a serious problem faced by society. This Competition serves to highlight the issue. Sky will exclude from the Competition, as not being in the spirit of the Competition footage/content which:
    • promotes irresponsible behaviour towards climate change or the planet; and/or
    • suggests climate change is not a problem faced by society, caused by humans; and/or
    • criticises governments, corporations or individuals for getting involved and trying to tackle the issue of climate change.


  9. Sky reserves the right to disqualify any entrants and their submissions if they fail to comply with these Competition Terms and Conditions and/or the SkyCast Usage Policy.


  10. In January 2008 (a specific date yet to be defined), one winner (the “Winner”) will be selected by a judging panel comprising Sky executives and external experts on the climate change and figures from the world of film, from all eligible entries.


  11. The Winner will be contacted within 14 days of the judging panel’s decision.


  12. The Winner will have their winning short film featured on a premiere programme to be broadcast on Sky TV.


  13. There is no cash alternative for the Prize (or any part of them). The Prize is not transferable.


  14. Once per month, between July 9th 2007 and December 31st 2007, an entry will be selected by a member of the judging panel from a selection of the most viewed entries. A monthly prize will be awarded to the selected entry.


  15. Except in the case of death or personal injury caused and so far as is permitted by law, the Promoter and its associated companies and agents exclude responsibility and all liabilities arising from any postponement, cancellation, delay or changes to the prize details beyond the Promoter's control and for any act or default of any travel company, airline, hotel or any other third party supplier.


  16. The Promoter's decisions are final and legally binding on all entrants. No correspondence will be entered into.


  17. If Sky is not able to contact the Winner, or the Winner is not able, for whatever reason, to accept the prize, then Sky reserves the right to award the prize to another entrant.


  18. Details of the Winner’s name and county of residence will be available for one month after the winning footage has been aired on Sky by writing to Green Shoots Competition at the Promoter’s address below.


  19. The names, counties and photographs of the Winner may be used for post-event publicity purposes. The footage/content submitted may be used by Sky in accordance with the SkyCast Usage Policy and these Competition Terms and Conditions.
